A management plan directs the long-range development and management of a state park by defining broad policy and program guidance. This guidance is essential to managers and staff, and is of value to those organizations and individuals who have a substantial interest in the state park system.
Management plans address visitor services, public safety, park operations, recreation opportunities, resource conservation, and education efforts over a 10 year period.
Fish Creek Management Plan in Progress
This is the first management plan for Fish Creek State Park, which was acquired by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks in 2010 as part of the Fish Creek acquisition. This plan will only address the State Park, and not the adjacent wildlife management area. In addition, the plan will also look at recreational activities around the Alberton Gorge and strategies to continue to provide and enhance opportunities for the public over the coming years.
Public Participation
Montana State Parks hosted a public scoping workshop on September 19, 2012 to gather suggestions and comments on what issues Montana State Parks should consider in the long-term plan for Fish Creek State Park. The public was invited to attend.
