Wild Horse Island State Park

Montana state parks are amazing places for kids to play and have fun in the outdoors—where they can look under rocks or leap over them, splash in the water, and thrill at a summer meteor shower. State parks also bring Montana’s history and cultural heritage to life for kids.

You'll Find a Different Adventure at Every Park

There are so many different kinds of parks! Some are in wide open places. Others have trees or mountains or water. See how many of these different types of parks you can visit:

  • Ghost towns
  • Battlefields
  • Buffalo jumps
  • Islands
  • Prairie dog towns
  • Caves
  • Lakes
  • Rivers and canyons

What to do there? The possibilities are endless!

  • Catch a fish
  • Hike a trail
  • Go swimming
  • Search for dinosaur fossils
  • Find animal clues
  • Stay in a yurt, tipi or cabin
Be a KUB Ranger

Kids, do you want to be a KUB Ranger and earn a badge? Just visit a Montana State Park, complete the KUB Ranger Activity Guide and you’ll be an official KUB Ranger! Older kids: try the Junior Ranger challenge booklet available at your nearest State Park office.

Print the guide out before you come to the park and then have fun doing the activities with your family and friends!  Just show your finished activity guide to a park ranger who will award you your KUB Ranger badge. You can also bring the booklet to any Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks office to receive your badge. Or, send in the completed form on the back of the booklet and an official KUB Ranger badge will be mailed to you!
