Apply For Smith River Super Permit--Deadline is Friday, March 15
(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that the public can apply online through Friday, March 15 to purchase chances to win the “Super Permit” to float the Smith River this season. Only one Super Permit is awarded, and the winner chooses the launch date.
An unlimited number of Super Permit chances are available for $5 each. Go to stateparks.mt.gov, or visit the FWP online licensing system at https://app.mt.gov/als/index/index.html. The winner will be notified the week of March 18.
The Super Permit lottery is second chance at a Smith River float permit. This year a record 6,662 applicants participated in the annual drawing on Feb. 25 that awarded 1,062 float permits.
Revenue from the sale of Super Permit chances will be used for the protection and enhancement of the Smith River.
Smith River State Park offers gorgeous scenery in a remote setting. Renowned trout fishing is just one of the recreational opportunities that make this float trip an unforgettable experience. Permits are required to float the 59-mile section of river between Camp Baker and Eden Bridge and are issued annually through a lottery.
