Public Invited to Open House "Planning Session" for Madison Buffalo Jump State Park
(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that the public is invited to attend an open house ‘planning session’ for Madison Buffalo Jump State Park in Bozeman on Tuesday, March 26 from 6:30pm – 8pm.
The open house will include a discussion on our current management strategy for the park, and developing a ‘friends group’ to help with resources and improved stewardship of the park.
In February, the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission approved the Parks’ Division recommendation to keep Madison Buffalo Jump as a state park, after receiving overwhelming public comment in support of this action. As a result, Montana State Parks signed the lease and will pay the annual fee to the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC). In addition, Montana State Parks received a generous gift from the Lee and Donna Metcalf Charitable Foundation to fund this year’s annual fee and create a matching grant program for the future.
