Beginner Bird Walk at Lake Elmo State Park in Billings
(Billings, MT) –Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced that Lake Elmo State Park in Billings will host a Beginner Bird Walk on April 24. Space is limited, so please sign up by calling 406-247-2968.
What: Beginner Bird Walk
When: Wednesday, April 24 at 8 a.m.
Where: Lake Elmo State Park, 2300 Lake Elmo Dr., Billings. Meet at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks headquarters building to gather for the walk.
Who: Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks employee and birder, Jen Ard of Billings.
Jen Ard will lead a bird walk beginning at 8 a.m. to spot and identify bird species and learn more about birding. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and bird identification guide books if they have them.
Birding is a great way to heighten your senses and tune into nature.
Please dress for the weather, bring a thermos of something warm to drink, and wear comfortable shoes!
Lake Elmo State Park, located on a 64-acre reservoir within the Billings city limits, is a great place to swim, boat, sailboard, fish, birdwatch and enjoy the 1.4- mile nature trail. In the 2012 season (Jan.-Sept.) Lake Elmo State Park hosted 215,000 visitors, a 60 percent increase over 2011.
