Celebrate 'National Kids to Parks Day" at Giant Springs State Park, Saturday, May 18
(Great Falls, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today:
What: Join Us for a day to celebrate ‘National Kids to Parks Day’ (http://kidstoparks.org/) and earn your Ranger Pin! Bring your family and friends to become a Junior or KUB Ranger. Activities include a nature hike, completion of state park ranger guide to receive your official pin and have fun.
11am – 12pm KUB Ranger Program Ages 4-6 with adult
1pm – 2pm Junior Ranger Program Ages 6-12 with adult
3pm – 4pm Junior Ranger Program Ages 6-12 with adult
Where: Giant Springs State Park is located at 4600 Giant Springs Road in Great Falls, MT
Meet at the Ranger Station for this event.
“National Kids to Parks Day” (http://kidstoparks.org/) inspires healthy outdoor recreation and encourages kids to become park stewards.
Giant Springs State Park was discovered by the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1805 and is one of the largest freshwater springs in the country. Visitors come to view the variety of bird life. You can picnic by the Missouri River, visit the fish hatchery and visitor center, walk along the Rivers’ Edge Trail, and view the nearby Rainbow Falls overlook. In 2012, this state park was the most visited in the state park system with more than 292,000 visitors. http://stateparks.mt.gov/giant-springs/
