What: Brown Bag Breakfast: Remembering the Lewis and Clark Expedition at the Missouri Headwaters.
The Brown Bag Breakfast remembers the 9 a.m., July 27, 1805 morning that Sacagawea, Captain Lewis, and the expedition canoes arrived at the Missouri headwaters. Members’ journals describe the beauty and bountiful resources that the expedition enjoyed while at this special place—now Missouri Headwaters State Park.
Bring your own breakfast and enjoy the early morning wonders of Missouri Headwaters State Park. Dutch oven cooking, hot cereal, and bagels--along with coffee and tea will be available.
Please bring your own chairs.

The park is located four miles north of Three Forks, just off of interstate 90.

Presenter: Mike Jetty, (Dakota), and Indian Education Specialist with the Office of Public Instruction, will discuss American Indian perspectives regarding Lewis and Clark. Bill Goold, Friends of Madison Buffalo Jump (FMBJ) Coordinator will remark on the origins, nature, and significance of Madison Buffalo Jump and discuss options to preserve and protect it. Singer/songwriter Buck Buchanan will perform his original song, “Welcome Home, Sacagawea.” Gayle Clifford, President of the Headwaters Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation will read from the expedition journals. Jim Sargent, Headwaters Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation member will provide a welcome and introduce presenters. Three Forks area cub scouts will start the morning’s program with a flag ceremony. And park manager Dave Andrus will cook up a sampling of eggs, potatoes, and sausage for the occasion. Missouri Headwaters Staff will help to provide information about the Three Forks of the Missouri area—a National Historic Landmark.
