“This is an exciting event at the Caverns every year,” said Lynette Kemp, Park Manager for Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park. “Tours typically book up quickly, we hope families will call early to hold their spot. It’s a great opportunity to experience the caverns in a unique, beautiful, and festive way.”
Coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies will be available at the Main Visitor Center.
The guided tour is a total of two miles long and takes approximately two hours to complete. Keep in mind that 1¼ miles of the tour is outside and may require walking to and from the cave through snowy conditions. Dress for walking in snow, wind and cold temperatures.
For safety reasons, the first (upper) half of the Caverns will be shown with the lights on. The lower half of the cave will be by candlelight.
Parents need to use their own judgment if children will be comfortable in the darkness of the cave. Young children will not be given a candle lantern.
