Joins Us for "Music in the Parks": with Philip Aaberg and the Montana Wild Cats Jazz Trio - Special Guest Artist Monte Dolack -

(Helena, MT) - Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that the public is invited to attend “Music in the Parks”, outdoor evening concerts at three state parks in June featuring Philip Aaberg and the Montana Wild Cats Jazz Trio

(http://www.sweetgrassmusic.com/).  Artist Monte Dolack will introduce Aaberg and the Trio at each of these events.  Prints of the new Dolack painting “Smith River in June” a commissioned piece in honor of Montana State Parks’ 75th Anniversary will be on sale to the public at these events with all proceeds benefitting Montana State Parks. Funding for the painting and prints were a generous gift from the Lee and Donna Metcalf Charitable Foundation.

The concerts are FREE to the public.

“Montana's state parks are such a great treasure for all of us, culturally and environmentally,” said Philip Aaberg, Grammy-nominated composer/pianist.  “They show off the diversity of this vast, inspirational place, and have meant so much to me on a personal level, that it's almost impossible to tell you how thrilled I am to be playing at three of them during this 75th anniversary year.”

“We are excited for the public to experience our state parks in the evening while relaxing with a picnic and enjoying music and art,” said Chas Van Genderen, Administrator for Montana State Parks. “Phil Aaberg has written compositions titled Makoshika and Marias River Breakdown, both are named after state parks, this holds a special meaning for us. We are thrilled that artist Monte Dolack will be introducing the Jazz Trio at each event as he is a great and good friend of our state parks’ system. I look forward to seeing you all out at these concerts in the next few weeks.”
