Join Us! Annual Montana Atlatl Mammoth Hunt At First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park - August 30th, 31st & September 1st

(Great Falls, MT) –Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) will host the Montana Atlatl Mammoth Hunt at First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park on August 30th, 31st and September 1st from 9am to 5pm daily.

Join us Labor Day weekend for the annual Montana Atlatl Mammoth Hunt at the scenic and sacred grounds of First Peoples’ Buffalo Jump State Park!  Learn about and practice throwing an atlatl, a 10,000 year old weapon that predates the bow and arrow.  Let an expert teach you the skill of archery, observe how to flintknap a knife, practice throwing tomahawks and enjoy the environment of a tipi encampment with a traditionally-built pow wow arbor!  This is a great opportunity to come out and relive the old west in the traditional setting of First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park, home of the largest Buffalo Jump in North America.

For more information call the park visitor center at (406) 866-2217. Admission to the park for Montana residents is free.  Non-residents pay $3.00 for walk-in entry or $5.00 per vehicle.
