(Dillon, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that a decision notice has been issued for a proposed electrical improvement project at Bannack State Park near Dillion, MT. The decision notice recommends moving forward with extending electrical service to the Yankee Flats Group Use Shelter. The proposed project will extend electrical service from existing infrastructure owned by Vigilante Electrical Cooperative to Bannack State Park’s existing Yankee Flats Group Use Shelter. An easement will be granted to Vigilante Electric Cooperative by Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. Extending the electric service will provide electricity to groups using the shelter or for special events such as Bannack Days, allow for maintenance and repair of the structure, and facilitate installation of fire detection and alarm system to help protect the shelter as well as the nearby National Historic Landmark buildings in the townsite.
