Public Comment Open on Proposed Wastewater System Replacement at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

(Whitehall, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposed Wastewater Treatment System Replacement project at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park located near Whitehall, MT. Comments will be accepted through Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 5pm. Montana State Park proposes to replace the wastewater treatment system serving the public restroom facilities and concession building at the Upper Visitor Center of Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park. The existing system has reached the end of its useful life and is under-capacity to meet current visitation levels. The proposed new system would include a 17,000-gallon septic tank, dosing tank, effluent pumps, drain field, and associated components for a completed and fully operational system. The new system would meet all Department of Environmental Quality requirements for a system necessary to accommodate the park’s current visitation and future growth.
