

The public has joined with Montana State Parks to determine best management practices for Cooney State Park. Through a collaborative process, the plan was developed with input from scoping workshops, open houses, and written comments to outline goals for the future. The plan will guide visitor services, operations and maintenance, recreation opportunities, resource conservation, and education efforts over the next ten years.
The final management plan was approved by the Parks Division Administrator in May 2012 and was announced in a press release. The plan and accompanying documents can be downloaded below. If you prefer a paper copy, please call the Cooney park office at (406) 445-2326.
Montana State Parks released the Draft Plan in February 2012 and held two open houses to solicit public input and answer questions about the plan. Public comments were collected for twenty-one (21) days ending on March 2, 2012. All comments were considered, and the draft plan was modified accordingly. Click below for the final management plan

This plan is subject to appeal, which must be submitted to the Parks Division Administrator in writing, and postmarked by June 23, 2012. The appeal must specifically describe the basis for the appeal, explain how the appellant has previously commented to the department or participated in the decision-making process, and lay out how Montana State Parks might address the concerns of the appeal.
