Recreational Trails, OHV, Snowmobile, LWCF & Accessible Playgrounds Programs
Our recreation programs provide more places and ways to enjoy the outdoors in Montana!
Montana State Parks administers five state and federal outdoor programs that fill a multitude of recreation needs.
Our recreation programs help maintain trails for hiking and biking in our parks, cities and throughout our state. They make sure snowmobile and OHV enthusiasts have safe places to ride, and provide local communities with grant funds to build swimming pools, baseball fields, playgrounds and other places for families to enjoy the outdoors.
Montana State Parks recreation programs and the funds that support them are completely separate from all Montana State Park revenues, camping fees, and related funding sources.
The Montana Accessible Playgrounds Grant Program was established to help municipalities and school districts throughout the state secure additional grant funding for the development of accessible playgrounds where children of all abilities can learn, play and grow.
Montana State Parks administers the Accessible Playgrounds Grant Program with $100,000 in funds appropriated by the Legislature. Funds must be matched at a rate of 1 to 1 minimum, with $1 in state funds to $1 or more in other grant funds. A grant award can not exceed $10,000.
