Walk a real dinosaur trail. Montana's largest state park features badland formations and the fossil remains of Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops and more. You'll find a visitor center at the park entrance with interpretive exhibits great for kids.

CLOSURES/RESTRICTIONS
Starting July 21, 2014 the main switchback road will be closed Monday-Friday for repair. The public is expected to be able to access the road using motorized vehicles only starting on Friday evenings at 5pm and weekends. The public can hike in on foot, however, during the day, using the Switchback Trail. This construction is expected to complete in November 2014.

MEET THE PARK MANAGER

Nate Powell became Makoshika State Park Manager in August, 2013. Nate has a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management from Northern Arizona University and a masters in Park and Recreation Administration from California State University. He has worked since 2003 as the executive director of Camp Chinquapin in Pinecrest, California as well as a director of the Pincrest Permittees Board. Nate has strong skills in personnel and administration as well as hands on experience, including operating his own landscaping company for 10 years.
