Makoshika State Park - Saddle and Spur Roads Re-Open after 5-month Weather Closure
(Glendive, MT) - Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that the saddle and the spur roads are now open at Makoshika State Park to all vehicles. Re-opening these roads provides access to the Kinney Coulee Trail, Lions Camp, Valley View Loop, Squatters Ridge and the Archery Range. These roads were closed on November 20, 2013 due to inclement weather issues.

Public Comment Sought on Draft EA for Purchase of Permanent Easements at Thompson Falls State Park and Lewis & Clark Caverns State park
(Kalispell, MT) - Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that public comments are being sought on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the purchase of permanent easements at Thompson Falls State Park in Sanders County and Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park in Jefferson County.

Public Comment Sought on Draft EA for Flat Iron Latrine Relocation near Thompson Falls State Park - Comments due by Friday, April 25
(Kalispell, MT) - Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that public comments are being sought on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to relocate the public latrine at the Flat Iron public access site on the Lower Clark Fork River. Currently the Flat Iron public latrine, located on US Highway 200, one mile down river west of Thompson Falls State Park, is located below the normal high-water mark along the Clark Fork River. As a result, the latrine is frequently flooded during high flows, prompting Parks Division to proactively pump the vault and prohibit public use until waters drop. This project will relocate the latrine to a higher point above the traditional flood elevation.

(Helena, MT) - Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that the public is invited to participate in focus groups as part of a strategic planning process. There will be eight focus groups around the state starting Monday, April 21 through Thursday, May 1.

(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is announcing today that Spring Meadow Lake State Park is promoting safe boating this summer with a free “Float Smart” program on Friday, May 1. The program is from 6:30 to 7:30pm at the Montana Wild meeting room located next to Spring Meadow Lake.
