Public Comment Opens for Proposed OHV Grant Applications
(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is seeking public comment on proposed 2020 Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) grant proposals for the current grant application cycle which closed on February 28, 2020. Public comments will be accepted through Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 5pm.

Makoshika State Park Water Line Project - Comments accepted through May 1st
(Glendive, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposed Makoshika State Park Water Line Project located in Glendive, MT. Comments will be accepted through Friday, May 1st, 2020 at 5pm.

Ice Causes Temporary Closure of Smith River State Park
Effective immediately, the Smith River is closed to all floating between Camp Baker and Eden Bridge. Below average temperatures and heavy snow fall this winter have left the river covered in ice making it impassable for recreationists. Boat camps remain covered in ice and snow, making conditions hazardous.

Montana State Parks & Recreation Board to Meet in Bozeman
(Helena, MT) – The Montana State Parks & Recreation Board will meet in Bozeman on Tuesday, March 10th at 9:00am. The meeting will be held at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Regional Headquarters in Bozeman, MT located at 1400 South 19th Ave.

2020 Successful Smith River Permit Applicants Will Be Notified By Email
(Helena, MT) – Beginning this year, successful Smith River applicants will no longer receive their permit and floater information packet via the United States Postal Service. Instead, successful applicants will be notified via email shortly after the lottery drawing is conducted on Monday, March 2nd, 2020. Links within the email will allow permit holders to download and print their float permit, as well as access vital and detailed information regarding their upcoming Smith River float. Lottery results will also be available online at stateparks.mt.gov.
