Areas of Cooney State Park Reopen After Flooding -Friday, June 7 at 12pm
(Roberts, MT) – Montana State Parks ( announced today that Cooney State Park will partially reopen on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 12:00pm. The park had been under a temporary emergency closure due to flooding. The North Shore boat ramp and day-use area, the Overlook day-use are, and part of Red Lodge Arm campground will be open for public access.

Evening Campground Programs at Flathead Lake State Park
(Bigfork, MT) – Montana State Parks ( and Flathead Lake State Park invite you to join a ranger and explore what makes Flathead Lake so unique at their Evening Campground Programs. Bring a camp chair or blanket to enjoy these 45-minute evening programs. All programs start at 7:00 pm and are free for registered campers; otherwise, $4 per person or $10 per family.

First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park 2019 Junior Ranger Programs -Thursdays, June 13th – August 15th
(Ulm, MT) –Montana State Parks ( and First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park invite children ages 6 to 12 years nature with Junior Ranger programs ever Thursday from 10:00am to 12:00pm, June 13 through August 15, 2019. Children who attend two programs will become a Certified Junior Ranger. Attend five programs for a surprise event at the end of summer. Open to all ages but formatted for children 6 - 12 years.

Montana Wilderness Association at Hike Makoshika State Park -Saturday, June 15 @ 10:00 am
(Glendive, MT) – Makoshika State Park will host a Montana Wilderness Association Hike on Saturday, June 15 at 10am. Join park staff and the Montana Wilderness Association for a hike along the Vista Trail following this road-to-trails route along a plateau in the undeveloped portion of Makoshika. Enjoy close-up views of the badlands and distant views of adjacent valleys.

Snakes of Montana, BioBlitz, and Park After Dark Hike at Lone Pine State Park
Snakes of Montana Presentation Lone Pine State Park will host a ranger talk about the snakes of Montana on Friday, June 14th from 6:30 Pm to 7:30 PM. Montana is a unique place that provides habitats for a variety of wildlife one of which has no legs. The 10 species of snakes that make this state home play a vital role in managing small mammal populations. See a live gopher snake and learn what makes these legless wonders so adaptive to their habitat.

Roadwork Completed at Makoshika State Park
(Glendive, MT) – When the starting gun sounds this weekend for the 30th Annual Buzzard Day Run at Makoshika State Park, participants will travel the fresh pavement of the park’s newly-completed road renovation. The project was completed today, Monday, June 3 and the road and all backcountry areas of the park will open at 1pm.
