Tree Maintenance Planned for Marshall Cove Campground - September 18-30, 2018
(Roberts, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that Marshall Cover Campground at Cooney State Park will be temporarily closed for maintenance September 18 through September 30, 2018. All other campground and park areas will remain open.

Birds of Prey Festival at Lone Pine State Park -Saturday, September 15, 2018

Parks in Focus Commission Announces Third Public Meeting in Glendive
(Glendive, MT) – The Montana Parks in Focus Commission will host a public meeting September 27-28 in Glendive. The public meeting is the third of four held at state parks across Montana intended to gather public input and develop recommendations to sustain and strengthen Montana’s state parks system.

National Public Lands Day at Fort Owen State Park Saturday, September 22nd from 9am – 12pm
(Stevensville, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) will host a National Public Lands Day volunteer event at Fort Owen State Park on Saturday, September 22nd, from 9am to 12pm. This event is a partnership between Montana State Parks and Friends of Fort Owen.

Travelers’ Rest State Park Moves to Offseason Hours
(Lolo, MT) – Travelers’ Rest State Park announced today that the park is now observing offseason hours of operation. The park will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm daily with the visitor center and museum open from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Wednesday through Sunday; closed on Monday and Tuesday. Offseason hours will remain in effect until May 1, 2019. For more information call the visitor center at (406) 273-4253.

Visitors Advised to Be “Bear Aware” at Sluice Boxes State Park
(Great Falls, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) would like to alert visitors to Sluice Boxes State Park that there is a dead horse located approximately 1.5 miles in from the Evans Riceville parking area trailhead. The carcass is currently in Belt Creek. The horse was critically injured in the park on Sunday, September 2 and had to be euthanized by the owner.

Cochrane Dam Open for Public Crossing -Saturday, September 29, 2018
(Great Falls, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is partnering with City of Great Falls Park & Recreation to open Cochrane Dam, owned by NorthWestern Energy, for public crossing on Saturday, September 29th from 10am to 3pm in celebration of National Public Lands Day.

State Trails Advisory Committee Meeting in Great Falls -Wednesday, September 12, 2018
